Growing a Newly Planted Lawn:

When To Sow

Spring and fall are the best time to sow seed.Seed germinates best when soil temperature is 60 to 80F.Summer seedings can be successful if the area is kept moist constantly.

Prepare the Soil

Loosen top 3″ to 4″ of soil Test soil to determine pH (6.5-7.0 is ideal).If necessary, adjust soil pH accordingly.Grade to a level, smooth, debris-free surface. Apply Turf Line Fas-Start Seed Starter Fertilizer.

Seed Application

Divide seed into two equal parts and apply evenly in two directions.Gently rake into soil.To retain moisture and keep seeds from washing or blowing away, cover with straw or burlap cloth.

Water Often

Watering is crucial to seeding success.Water with a sprinkler 10 to 15 minutes, three times a day until seedlings are up.Continue to water once or twice a week until lawn is established.
